The Blonde in the Red Sports Car...

...One Summer late in 1966, my mother met Jayne Mansfield in Hamilton. My father worked for General Motors, and they had manufactured the shiny, candy-apple red car that Ms. Mansfield was driving. it was a 1966 Buick Electra.

Mom vividley recalled the "big blonde in the dazzling Red car", I think this incident always resonated with my mother because not long after this incident Ms. Mansfield died in a car accident in this very same car.

The image of the very much alive, blustery, blonde in the candy apple red car, was hard to juxtapose with the news reports of her death.

Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Anna Nicole Smith...all women who died before their time, who entranced and baffled the world with their bold, blonde, ambition.
much smarter than the world gave them credit for.

She spoke five languages, and was a classically trained pianist and violinist. Mansfield admitted her public didn't care about her brains. "They're more interested in 40-21-35," she said.
